Anchors in the Storm is a book for children and families experiencing loss and grief.
After my mother passed, I avoided talking about death with my son. He was only four at the time, but kept asking questions that I was too uncomfortable and sad to answer. One day in tears he begged me to tell him where his grandmother was, so we sat down and I told him my beliefs on the subject and he listened and added some thoughts of his own that I found fascinating. He made me promise to always tell him the truth about what’s real, even if I feared it would be too hard for him to handle. It was uncomfortable at first, but the more we talk about difficult subjects, it’s gotten easier. And I’ve discovered that it’s through talking about difficult subjects that we get to know our loved ones on a deeper level, a level that creates the very connections that really are everlasting. I hope this book provides some comfort and connection for children and their families as they navigate through difficult times.
Because this is a subject dear to my heart, I am selling this book for $3 so more people can afford it. There is also an option to pay $15 for the book.
Anchors in the Storm was written for and is dedicated to my son Brautigan, and also to Willow and Penelope, daughters of a dear friend of mine.
A special thank you to my husband Chris and to my wonderful proofreader, Christine Ma.
